EXIF and Metadata Remover

Photos from a phone or camera carry hidden metadata: the exact GPS position where the shot was taken, the date and time, the camera model and serial number, editing software, and sometimes a small embedded thumbnail of the original frame. Drop one or more images here and the tool first inspects each file and tells you what it found, for example "GPS location: found". Press the button and every file is rebuilt from its pixels alone, then scanned again so you can see the output is clean.

Removal works by drawing the image onto a canvas and re-encoding it, which by design cannot carry any of the original metadata: EXIF, GPS, XMP, ICC colour profiles, and C2PA or other AI-provenance manifests all go. JPEG and WebP files are recompressed at quality 92 (adjustable between 80 and 100), which is visually lossless but slightly changes the file size; PNG output is lossless. Formats the browser cannot write back, such as GIF or BMP, are saved as PNG. Photos with an EXIF rotation flag are shown upright by modern browsers, so the output is saved upright with no rotation flag needed.

Use this before posting to a marketplace, forum or social network that does not strip metadata itself, before sending a photo of your home or workplace, or when you want to share a screenshot without the device details. Note that removing the ICC profile can shift colours slightly on wide-gamut images, and that the tool cannot remove what is visible in the picture itself, such as a street sign or a reflected screen.

Files are never uploaded. Inspection and re-encoding both happen inside your browser, and the results are gone when you close the tab. Files up to 50 MB each are accepted.
